Non-traditional providers also are part of the SDC Provider Network, offering services such as counseling and therapy, vision care, employment training and support, computer training, personal fitness training, diet and nutrition counseling, and complementary medicine.

Goodwill also offers a Computer Skills Training Program for Banking, Customer Service, and Call Centers. H.I.S. Employment Training
BridgeBuilders trains students in skills and trades that provide numerous and consistent job opportunities in high growth industries. Most classes are certified by community colleges as Continuing Education Units providing the students with college credits. BridgeBuilders works with employers such as Wal-Mart, Eye-Masters, APC, and others to provide employment upon completion of its training programs. They also provide each student with a mentor who acts as a friend, encourager, and supporter as the student progresses through the training program. Students go through an orientation and assessment prior to joining the program. Most students qualify for financial aid.
Some of the training classes include: Dispensing Optician and Lens Laboratory Technician training class; Machine Shop Skills training class; and Dental Laboratory Technician training class.

H.I.S. BridgeBuilders Eye Clinic
BridgeBuilders operates a free eye clinic in the Cedar Springs Housing Development of the Dallas Housing Authority. The University of Houston’s School of Optometry utilizes the clinic as a training site for externs who are completing their last semester of training. The clinic has adopted glaucoma education and prevention as its main focus. H.I.S. BridgeBuilders staffs the office management and operates an in-house optical laboratory and dispensary.
